The “New Diehl” Chuck Wagon Beans

Directions

Dice and fry 8 slices of bacon.

Drain and mix the following:  2 small cans of large butter beans, 1 small can of kidney beans, 1 5# can of pork and beans.

Cook 4 large sweet onions (sliced) in sauce of 1 cup sugar, 1 tbs dry mustard, 1 tbs garlic powder, 1 tbs salt, 1/2 cup vinegar until onions are clear and limp.

Add sauce, bacon and bacon fat (Jerry Diehl’s favorite) to beans.

Bake at 325 degrees F until sauce is reduced and all well blended, approx 2 hours.

During the last 15 minutes of baking, stir in 1 package of cooked baby lima beans. Enjoy!!

P.S.  Once these delicious goodies have been consumed, it is advisable to keep a safe distance from any open flames.
